Learning Objectives:
Upon completion, participant will be able to describe the Law of Laplace and the vascular anatomy of the colon and apply it to pathophysiology of colon disease (ie colon perforation and ischemia).
Upon completion, participant will be able to understand diverticular disease including symptoms, risk factors, diagnosis and treatment.
Upon completion, participant will be able to recognize different obstructive diseases of the colon and their management both conservative and surigical.
Upon completion, participant will be able to have a basic understanding of polyps, their management and polyposis syndromes.
Upon completion, participant will be able understand screening recommendations for colon cancer. They will also be able to understand briefly the pathophysiology behind the development of colon cancer. Participants should also be able to recognize symptoms of colon cancer, diagnosis and treatment.
